The Yankees rookie had scuffled upon coming off the disabled list in late July, but is looking more and more like the All-Star he was as the playoff race heats up, with another clutch effort on Saturday. Torres crushed a two-run home run in the fifth inning, the only offense the Yankees got all day and it was just enough for a 2-1 win over the Tigers in The Bronx.

The feeling that first hit Andrew McCutchen's stomach Thursday afternoon at a Starbucks in San Francisco still hadn't left him by the time he arrived Saturday morning in The Bronx. But they weren't keeping McCutchen from embracing the challenge that awaited him as he put on the pinstripes for the first time Saturday at Yankee Stadium.
